My middle wild loves crafting as much as her mama. Though, I’ll be honest…I enjoyed crafting more before I had kids. It’s similar to baking in that it use to be a relaxing hobby. But doing either with my children often proves to be a source of anxiety.

7 years and 3 girls later, I have (for the most part) put the kibosh on all glitter related crafts. It truly cannot be contained ?. Aside from that, I have learned to step back and give my children free range when it comes to their crafts.

We have a smorgasbord of craft supplies so some days I just throw it all on the counter and let them go to town. And I love the creations that emerge from their little minds!

I value structure and order, and somehow I am able to carry that into my crafting. But my girls, especially my middle child…my beautiful free spirit, take all the chaos you can dream up and somehow turn it into something that makes sense. Something beautiful, because I can see them and their joy in their creations.

I am not exaggerating when I say that EV-ER-Y-DAY, my middle Wild asks me if we can do a craft. Some days I’m super(ish) mom and we do something big and exciting and super involved. Some days I find quick and easy from crafts off of Pinterest and call it a day. And a lot of days I’m tired-mom and we make it up as we go.

This week we decided to get a jump on our Valentines crafting. After perusing Pinterest I landed on this super cute….super quick craft and the girls loved it.

We had a bunch of these tissue paper squares left from another craft, and I’m always looking for ways to use them up.

Like most women in their 30’s I have a collection of mason jars from Pinterest project ideas I never completed….or even started.

A little Elmer’s glue, some scrap paper, and a mason jar that finally had a purpose. And before you know it, you have a very fanciful Valentines candle holder. I was able to track down a tea candle from holidays past, and just like that, our craft was done.

Valentine's day craft for kids

Might be a good idea to let the glue dry before lighting the candle. We are not so patient and had to see our handiwork immediately. ?

Hope your crafting is serene and enjoyable. ☺️
